"You could write a small book on all that has happened in the last 14 or 15 years regarding the transfer of the Carson Lake and Pasture," according to Nevada Waterfowl Association's Vice President, Norm Saake.

Presidents Message

It looks like the stage is set for a good water year on the heels of five years of drought. Snow levels on all three major river systems in western Nevada are well above normal and a relatively wet and cold spring has kept that much needed moisture in the hills and runoff at a minimum so far. Last year, a warm spring sent a lot of the stored water down the rivers earlier than we would have liked.

Stomp Fundraiser To Continue As In the Past
Results of questionnaires completed by those who attended the April 8 Stomp show that an overwhelming majority want NWA's popular fundraiser to remain the same, according to Patrick Rucker, co-chair of the event.

In addition, approximately 80 percent said that they would like to see a summer event held each year, like a sporting clays shoot. A committee will be appointed soon to plan for such an event later this year.

Waterfowl Youth Day 2004

State waterfowl seasons open Oct. 8 in most areas
Nevada's waterfowl seasons for ducks, coots, moorhens and snipe were set by the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners during their Aug. 5 meeting in Reno. Waterfowl hunters will have nearly four months to pursue their sport.

Adam Oswald Wins 2005 Nevada State Ducks Stamp Competition
Adam Oswald, 27, of Brandon, South Dakota, captured top honors in Nevada Department of Wildlife's 27 th annual Duck Stamp Art competition in late March. His painting of a pair of flying gadwall ducks will be portrayed on the 2005-06 Nevada Duck Stamp that sells annually for $10.

We Want To Feature Your Kids in the FLYER !
Beginning this month, in each issue of the FLYER we will be featuring pictures of young waterfowl hunters caught in the act of having a good time in the field. Pictures can be submitted by anyone but we do need names of the people in the pictures and who took the picture so that proper credit can be given. Pictures of adults along with the young hunters in the pictures is quite alright.

Color or black and white photos may be sent to David K. Rice, Editor, The Flyer, 5081 West Albuquerque Road, Reno, NV 89511. They will be returned if you include your address. Also, those taking digital pictures may email them to: Thomascreek@worldnet.att.net. Sorry, we cannot use transparency slides. The deadline for pictures to be included in the next FLYER September 3, 2005. We appreciate any help you can give us to make this new venture a real success.
