entered into an agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,
the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Ducks Unlimited to restore
wetlands at Sheldon NWR, IXL. Work began in October 1998 and was

dikes, structures, and associated wetlands on the IXL property
to ultimately increase quality wetland habitat.
- Nevada Waterfowl's funding
contribution to this project was $12,000 for construction of 25
nesting islands. The first $800 was pledged in 1992 to help launch

Sink remained dry.

with the Lahontan Wetlands Coalition raised additional funds in
the form of special donations and loans for the completion of this
important film for national broadcasting.
*** The Nevada Department of Wildlife had rights
to pump only approximately 240 acre feet of water for marsh habitat
at this area. The Department was able to pay for pumping that amount
of water from its existing funds. Consequently, none of this money
was used in 1992 but carried forward for future use.
**** The Humboldt Sink Nesting Island Project was
a special fundraising drive to raise money to build at least 25
nesting islands in the Humboldt Sink while it was dry.
